Linchzhi (Ling-shi, Reishi, Ganoderma Lucidum)

Linchzhi (Ling-shi, Reishi, Ganoderma Lucidum) grows on some type of tree roots and stems.

Linchzhi is a fungus called “immortality mushroom”. In traditional Chinese medicine Linchzhi has received the highest rating, because its action spectrum is very broad, and it has no side effects.

The chemical composition of this fungus is very rich. Proteins are rich with common irreversible and replaceable amino acids and amines. Fat is mostly from polyunsaturated fatty acids. Mushroom is rich in vitamins (mostly C and D) and minerals (calcium, phosphorus and iron). Compared with other herbs, Linchzhi contains more active polysaccharides. Only these types of mushrooms have acids of a triterpenoid ganoderm group with a molecular structure similar to steroid hormones. Ganoderm acids have ant allergic effects and improve oxygen uptake.

Studies have shown that protective anticancer effect from medicinal mushrooms is related to the presence of fat substances and polysaccharides contained in themwhich is likely to be ergosterin. Linchzhi may be distinguished from many other medicinal mushrooms by the fact, that they are not only rich in active polysacchsarides that protect against cancer, but also in so called terpenoids, which increase resistance to stress, promote superoxide dismutase operations, prevent accumulation of free radicals. The specific effects of polysaccharides manifest through activated macrophages and T-lymphocytes, stimulated interferon and improved overall cellular immune response.
